Частенько эта музыка "настраивает" атмосферу в залах перед концертами Бориса Гребенщикова. И неудивительно - она несет ясно ощутимый заряд гармонии. Собственно, эти файлы выложены аквариумистами на одном из своих серверов, за что им огромное человеческое спасибо!
PS: оба альбома присутствуют в списке альбомов Аудиобиблиотеки Лотоса. В общем, рекомендуется для многократного прослушивания!

Breath Of The Heart is the latest chapter in the unfolding story that began 25 years ago in India at the foothills of the Himalayan mountains amongst the kirtan (chant) assembly of the Indian holy men. Breath Of The Heart was recorded in the heart of Los Angeles at the legendary Cello studios under the auspices of producer extraordinaire Rick Rubin. With a choir of 50 people (including Beastie Boy Mike D.) in tandem with an orchestra of ten top Eastern and Western musicians, Krishna Das and his Kosmic Kirtan Posse take the listener on a magical journey back to the ancient motherland, India...and beyond. The result is Krishna Das' most transcendent recording to date. It captures and transmits the moment where both time and space cease to exist and we are left with the pure essence of the primordial sound - the Breath Of The Heart.

According to ancient Indian scriptures and saints, the traditional practice of chanting God's name -- be it Krishna, Rama, Ganesh, or another of the numerous deities -- is a tried and true path leading to union with the divine. Kirtan is one of the main forms of this practice, wherein a leader sings out the call and a group echoes with a response. Breath of the Heart is a live recording of Krishna Das in such a setting. Of course, being a westerner, he rounds out the sound with a little more than the customary harmonium and drum of the "motherland," adding Rob McDonald's solid electric bass, Lili Haydn's exquisite though underused violin, and Steve Gorn's mystical bansuri flute, along with various percussion and such. A single kirtan can go on for as long as the leader feels appropriate, although here Krishna Das limits the pieces to not more than 15 minutes or so. That's just enough to get you going before he moves on to the next, which is good for newcomers but perhaps frustrating for true practitioners. For the result is a quick build that doesn't allow you to so much linger in the melody, but rather pulls you along with the rhythm. It's a forgivable consequence when taking his audience into consideration. Nevertheless, with Rick Rubin at the production helm and topnotch musicianship supporting Das' instantly recognizable voice, the combination is a truly enjoyable, and possibly enlightening, offering.

Handclaps, harmonium, tablas, and the occasional guitar lead the music on a uniquely American journey that begins with the sounds of the Subcontinent and reaches across the Rockies to the folksy strains of mountain music and California country rock. Used as a meditation aid or merely a relaxation tool, these homely sounds can transform your listening room into a sacred space and make the morning commute a whole new kind of trip.

"Gathering In The Light" is a pairing of two musical forces. Kirtan master Krishna Das, and Baird Hersey and his overtone singing choir Prana unite here to make music that’s whole is far greater than the sum of its parts. With the open hearted sound he is so well know for, Krishna Das sings seven of his most beloved chants over arrangements created by Baird, and sung by Prana.
But, Prana is far more than a human harmonium. Night after night, in ashrams and temples, cavernous cathedrals and modest community theaters around the world, Krishna Das sits down behind his harmonium, flanked by his band of supporting musicians, greets the crowd that has gathered to sing, closes his eyes, and begins. And with his opening Om, everyone in the room sets off together on a priceless evening’s journey along the path of devotion.
Heart Full of Soul is a double-CD recording of just such an evening and just such a journey. It is rich with the burnished treasure of the Divine Name, passed back and forth, back and forth between KD and the audience, as they travel together the varied terrain of the heart: from the funky rhythms of “Radhe Radhe Shyam” through the intense longing of “All One (Hare Krishna)” and the balm of “Jaya Bhagavan,” and ending with KD’s joyous version of the gospel classic, “Jesus on the Main Line.”
