Есть в моей обширной коллекции всего несколько исполнителей, музыка которых заставляет трепетать моё сердце с первых же аккордов. Одного из них я уже выкладывал здесь. Теперь настала очередь выложить ещё одну жемчужину (или как её ещё называют - принцессу) сикхов: Snatam Kaur. Я могу слушать её музыку часами (у меня есть часовые варианты её мантр для медитации). Редкой красоты вокал в сочетании с удивительно мелодичными мантрами - одно из лучшего, что у меня есть. Весьма рекомендую!

Many of the chants and mantras in this album are written by Guru Nanak, the First Guru of the Sikhs who lived from 1469 to 1538. Guru Nanak traveled on foot with his disciple, Mardana, throughout much of India and other countries in Asia. Mardana came from a long lineage of master musicians. Mardana played the rebeck, a simple stringed instrument of Persian origin. Guru Nanak would settle in an area perhaps under a tree, or by a river, and begin to sing with Mardana accompanying him. People would come from miles away attracted by the pure sound current and soon many people would be gathered around them in absolute rapture and love. Guru Nanak’s songs have amazing rhythm and poetry, and his message speaks to the Soul.
One of Guru Nanak’s most well known gifts to our planet is the sacred composition called Japji. It is recited daily by hundreds of thousands of Sikhs throughout the world today. Japji has forty "pauris" or stanzas. In the words of Yogi Bhajan, " Each pauri addresses different aspects of the relationship between man and God and each has a specific power and gift that comes with it. The particular power of each pauri in Japji lies in the combination of sounds which creates the chemical and magnetic change in and around the being who recites it."
The awareness imparted in these stanzas is simple, practical, and uplifting for anyone on a spiritual path. Japji means meditation of the Soul. It is for all people, as this was Guru Nanak’s way.

Sa – infinity, beginning, Ta – life, existence, Na – death, Ma – rebirth
You may chant this mantra in any position, as long as you adhere to the following requirements:
1. Keep the spine straight
2. Focus at the brow (3rd eye) point
3. Use the “L” form of meditation (The “L” form means that when you meditate, you feel there is a constant inflow of cosmic energy into your solar center, or 10th gate (top of the head). Place Sa, Ta, Na, Ma here. As you chant “Sa,” for example, the “S” starts at the top of your head and the “a” ends at through the brow point as it is projected to infinity. This flow of energy is the connection between the pineal and the pituitary glands.)
On “Sa”, touch the first (Jupiter) finger to the thumb (knowledge) On “Ta”, touch the second (Saturn) finger to the thumb (wisdom and patience)
On “Na”, touch the third (Sun) finger to the thumb (vitality)
On “Ma”, touch the fourth (Mercury) finger to the thumb (communication)
Each time you close a mudra by joining the thumb with a finger, your ego “seals” the effect of that mudra in your consciousness. Can be chanted for 11 – 62 minutes. (This CD is 62 minutes in length)

Sit in Easy Pose, bend your elbows so that your upper arms are by your rib cage, and the hands are at shoulder level, palms facing forward. Bring each hand into Surya Mudra with the thumb and sun finger (ring finger) touching. Keep the other three fingers straight. Silently meditate to the mantra Rakhe Rakhan Har. Close your eyes and go through your oneness. Let the Surya or sun energy circulate, the hands are in the Surya Mudra and the mantra is the Surya Shabd.
Begin chanting for 11 minutes, and eventually work your way up to 31 minutes. (This CD is 62 minutes in length)

This album fulfills years of requests for Snatam Kaur to capture the experience of her live performances on CD. There is something mystical that happens at her concerts that is represented in these songs.
The album opens with Azure Salver, a prayer translated in the book Peace Lagoon. This song has been a favorite at her concerts, but has never been recorded before. This song is hilighted by the clarity of Snatam's voice, the poetry of the lyrics, and the expert instrumental accompaniment.
The live version of Snatam's Ong Namo takes the recorded version into the ethers. Sometimes when Snatam is on stage, she goes into a deep meditative space and spontaneously weaves improvisational poetry into the songs. Ong Namo has a beautiful example of this.

A Chant Album from the Sacred Writings of the Sikhs to experience Love.
Prem means the experience of love, deep love. It is the love that you have the courage and wisdom to feel in yourself for yourself, it is the love that God feels for you.
We project ourselves through every moment of time and space whether it is through sounds, thoughts, or feelings. The gift of every human being is to truly express the soul through the intelligence of the mind and body. Often times however we are burdened with so many expectations and desires of what we should be that we cannot truly express who we are. If you take a 60 second period and just watch your mind you will observe a cycle of experience that is identical to a longer cycle of experience over a day, a month, a year, a lifetime. It doesnít matter how long you observe your mind; it is what it is. We cycle through receiving information, processing it, and then projecting out our reality through the medium of sound, thought, or feeling.
In order to project the reality of the honest self, the soul, Yogi Bhajan has taught the science of Naad Yoga. Naad means sound current. It is the primal sound that connects the basic elements of the physical body to the etheric elements of the soul. Naad Yoga uses sacred mantras from the writings of the Sikh Gurus in the beautiful poetic language of Gurumukhi. These mantras are traditionally practiced with a straight spine, in a meditative posture. As the mantras are sung the energy of the sound current creates a channel of healing energy through the spinal chord and out the top of the head. Essentially what happens is that through the repetition of these sacred mantras the tongue stimulates meridian points on the roof of the mouth. These points in turn stimulate the hypothalamus to secrete which controls the pituitary gland and pineal gland. In yogic practice we call this the turning of the lotus. A visual image is that at the top of the head rests the lotus flower or the tenth gate. It faces upwards. Through Naad Yoga the Kundalini energy rises from the base of the spine to the top of the head. At this time the lotus flower turns upside down and rains nectar down upon the yogi. In physical terms the glandular system is stimulated. In spiritual terms the sweetness of angels caresses each and every cell. Through the practice of Naad Yoga we can increase our immune system, or physical well being, mental calmness, and connection to the spirit.
I am joined by Thomas Barquee, my producer and great friend, who has helped to bring the quality of music to heavenly standards. My loving mother, Prabhu Nam Kaur has given her rich voice and most appreciated guidance throughout the process of creating this album. I have also been very blessed to have Lily Hayden (violin), Zoran Todorovic (guitar and mandolin), and Jim McGrath (percussion) all world class musicians contribute the most exquisite instrumentation that I could imagine. I am grateful to the down to earth Punjabi style tabla playing that brings me straight back to my time in India by Avtar Singh, and the wonderful vocals of Laura Kerr, Guru Ganesha Singh, and Kirtan Singh. This album is uplifting to me, may it be uplifting to you!

Живущая в Америке сикхская певица Снатам Каур Халса вышла с сольным альбомом "Shanti" в полуфинал музыкальной премии Грэмми в категории нью-эйдж, сообщает газета "The Times of India".
Как гласит релиз образовательной неправительственной организации "Sikhnet Network", "Shanti" был отобран самыми известными артистами из тысячи альбомов благодаря тому, что приобрел всемирную популярность с упоминаниями в журналах "Time", "Martha Stewart's Living" , "Newsweek" и многих других.
На альбоме "Shanti" Снатам, которая носит тюрбан, исполняет священные гимны по традиции сикхов. "Sikhnet Network" отмечает, что "Shanti" - это альбом, в котором "песни выходят за рамки любых границ, осуществляя прорыв к подлинной чистоте".
Снатам также выпустила три больших альбома и множество альбомов мантр в сопровождении музыкальной группы "Peace Family". Содержание этих альбомов сосредоточено на духовно возвышающей тематике.
По информации сайта India.ru, в Индии сикхи насчитывают примерно 15 миллионов человек - 2,2% населения, составляя третью по численности религиозную группу. В мае 2003 года в Москве зарегистрирована религиозная организация сикхов "Гурудвара комити Москоу".
